Policy Exchange, the UK think tank, has created a stir across the country recently, when it stated that the renewable policies of the government will lead to an increase in household costs by 2020 of up to £400. This has invariably led to the governments Department of Energy and Climate Change vigorously refuting the claim. According to the DECC the people at Policy Exchange are totally wrong and claiming that the figure is based on analysis that is flawed and as such not credible.

This tit for tat is like having someone tell you that the octopus hr software is not worth the buy and the makers claiming otherwise. The report released by the Policy Exchange last week countered the claims by the government that its policy on renewable energy will likely see a reduction in what household are currently paying on their energy bill by as much as 7% within the next eight years. According to the group higher bills are in store for two-thirds of household because they will not be benefitting from the rebates or any significant demand reductions.

The DECC have come out and stated that the Policy Exchange has overestimated the costs and at the same time ignored the benefits. They also published a complete breakdown of what the impact would be and how the net effect will be a reduction by 7% in the average domestic fuel bill.

Yet still the Policy Exchange has argued that the costs associated with things like grid upgrades, that are paid through energy system costs and taxation, will have to be paid by someone and that person is the householders.

The DECC has made it clear that we do need plants upgraded and also new ones but we won’t see a reduction in energy costs if we do not do the necessary investments into these facilities now.

The end of last week saw the WTI oil price closing below $91 per barrel. The fall was not experienced only by WTI oil, Brent oil too was affected by the drop in price. Because of this price fall, there are several ideas from several market watchers that the price may still fall further. This assumption is however not to be relied upon as the chances of oil falling tend to be very slim based on what is happening elsewhere in the world and the current increase in demand from China and Australia.

On the NYMEX, the U.S light crude oil closed at just about $98 per barrel. The closing price for last week was around the $94 make. This rise was due to the amount of oil that was released. The amount of stock released had been greatly criticized by market watchers. Many believe that it is the speculators worldwide that are driving up the price of oil.

The increase in the amount of oil made available had however been criticized by the OPEC and Iran. They argued that there was no need to release more oil since the oil market was well supplied. The IEA however argued that the decision to make more oil available was due to the failure of OPEC to increase oil output globally.

With the new agreement reached by the EU government to protect the Euro and to attack and develop a debt plan to help the Greek economy, oil prices have risen sharply.

So for anyone who is running a business in say Croydon, that uses oil such as transportation and office cleaners Croydon, it may be best if you keep abreast of what is happening in the oil market and protect the business from any dramatic fluctuations.

Another sign that prices are likely to rise again, has to do with the US GDP rise, as this could be a sign that its economy is turning the recession corner.

Is it advisable to condemn all youngsters of being antisocial simply because the recent riots in London were dominated by the young and educated? Obviously not. If so, why is it that people insist on dumping crude oil and using renewable sources of energy when petrol and diesel happen to be just two of the many substances extracted from crude oil?

What about kerosene which is used to fuel airplanes? How is the Boeing Jumbo Jet going to run on sun or wind power? What about asphalt which is used as a waterproof substance in roofing activities? It is also used on roads to ensure our vehicles travel smoothly.

If we are going to dump crude oil completely, we will have to find alternatives for all these solutions as well. Who knows how environmental friendly these alternatives will be? Once we adopt this approach, we discover that reducing petrol and diesel consumption is only going to solve the problem of transportation. We still need crude oil extraction and processing for various other activities. To completely ignore these activities is nonsensical.

Sadly, I find most supporters of environmentally friendly fuels are completely shortsighted on this matter. In fact, I have found persons who simply refuse to accept that asphalt and wax are products of crude oil. For a person who has worked in the diesel industry all his life, it can indeed be very frustrating to deal with such persons who claim to know everything about this industry. Would it not be nice if people admitted that they did not know everything about everything before opening their mouth?

Well, we all saw it happen - from the very beginning of the Libyan unrest, it was clear that someone needs to take the advantage of dealing with oil of one of the richest oil destinations in the world. Libya is now forming a new government, one without the hand of Qaddafi interfering in almost every possible level of governance of business conduct. And now the player list for candidates to take hold of the Libyan oil industry is as long as the queue for social benefits applicants in Paris.

The queue us being led by Italy - the country has been an oil partner to Libya for years but the regime restricted the Italians from benefiting too much from their oil related activities in the area. Right now, however, with a new government that would again need the support of neighbouring countries and international communities, Italy would readily offer political backing and … some oil problem resolutions.

But Libya would open up to other countries. Probably even commercial cleaning Surrey companies would be able to develop business in the region simply because Libya would desperately need international financial resource. So it is not impossible for UK, French, Norwegian and Scottish oil companies to try and take over the oil production in the country. Whatever scenario happens to be true, one thing is for sure - the oil prices of Libyan oil might actually reduce and thus offer better conditions for international trade and general consumers of oil industry products. The only actual problem that might disturb such trade is the lack of central government - it is quite probable that chaotic desires for power in the newly formed government might negatively influence the Libyan economic and political life.

Wind power has long been a much debated affair. However the fact remains that wind is free. This type of energy generation is very useful, particularly in areas that are far flung and have no access to power grids. There is no additional expenditure that needs to be incurred. It can easily be captured with the technology we have at our disposal today.

There is no need for further technological advancement that may add to the cost. While there may be some amount of pollution during its manufacture, once installed it does not generate any pollution or greenhouse gases. So if you consider the entire life span of a wind turbine, there is very little pollution being generated. The land it is set up on can be used for other things too, like cultivation, as it takes up very little space. The land can be put to dual use without any repercussions in the long term. It also comes in different sizes so a range of businesses and houses can use them.

I was surfing for pv panels essex, and realised that it is not without its detractors. The main argument is that wind does not blow at a consistent speed. So there may be times when no electricity is produced. But the point to be considered here is that these are usually installed only in places that are quite windswept. Such areas seldom have windless days.

Perhaps the day is not far off when electricity can safely be stored for use at a later time.

For someone who works in the gas and oil industry, Al Gore’s film, which centres on explaining to the masses why climate change is affecting all of us, is a tough pill to swallow. And not just because it makes us all feel guilty; there’s a lot of truth in this film which makes it very hard to see the positives of mining for any raw material.

Truth, however, is what I needed when I watched this film. I would be the first to admit that at the time this film came out I wasn’t exactly an expert on greenhouse gases and related issues. Actually, to be honest I had no real idea that the glaciers were melting at any rapid rate. What this film did was give me facts which a lot of our community have been ignoring for a very long time. That might have been the case in the past, but we’re starting to wake up now. And it’s about time…

none of us will be alive to see the problems of the future. So it’s easy to push them to the back of our minds

The world is getting smaller, if you like. The glaciers are shrinking, rapidly, and massive lakes are drying up. Worse, the stuff we are pumping up into the atmosphere is not exiting the atmosphere and heading into outer Space…it’s remaining inside our bubble and insulating us in a way which is making everything heat up. It’s only a fraction of an increase in temperature every year but don’t let the numbers fool you: it is slowly having an enormous impact on the way we live our lives.

What I gleaned from this film, if you like, is two things: 1) we have to find a new resource other than oil and 2) although it can’t happen immediately – that’d be suicide – it has to happen in the next 50 to 100 years.

There’s your biggest issue, of course: none of us will be alive to see the problems of the future. So it’s easy to push them to the back of our minds and get on thinking about Casual Fabrics and what DVD we are going to watch this evening.

Here’s the point: this film isn’t saying any one group is worse than any other. What it’s really doing is highlighting what we must do and how we need to act together to change things. It’s time we all got on the same page, or, to begin with, started just reading from the same library, you know?

Have you ever imagined the possibility of using a car fueled by water? This may sound like a rather impossible thing but the truth remains that such a thing is already happening. Genepax has invented a water fueled car that can put an end to the use of oil.

Achieving the impossible

Genepax is a Japanese company. The car was made in such a way that it is able to make use of any kind of water from any source. All you need to do is to pour a liter of water into the car. The car makes use of electricity as the power controlling it. The water is used in producing hydrogen dioxide, which is the main source of fuel for the car.

If you want the car to continue working consistently, you will only need to keep a bottle of water in the car as you move about. Top up the water once in a while and you will keep the car constantly up and running.

The battery in the car is charged consistently by its electrical power source, this means that the battery will be at the top of its game every time and you will never need to bother about visiting a battery charger.

In a world driven by the use of oil, gas, diesel, and hybrid cars uk, this may be a welcomed development. But how feasible is this technology? Can it be mass produced at a reasonable cost as most people who drive cars are very price conscious.

Canadian Stocks fell on a five-week low after the country keeps suffering from international trade problems. After the US dollar was boosted by the Greek crisis which reduced the value of Euro, the Canadian stocks dropped because of their dependency on the value of the US money. So oil and gold companies suffered the most with decreases varying from 2.8% to as much as 3.4% only for a few days.

The London market exchanged - the London electricians for the market grid, have traded less severely for Canadian stocks. The result is clear - the export of Canadian oil are reduced, the price of oil does not bring a significant income to the Canadian economy, the losses are estimated in billions and … other industries such as metal mining and energy sector are suffering from the market changes. Furthermore, the International Agency of Energy announced it would release almost 60 million barrels of oil in satisfaction of the increased demand for oil at such low prices.

Thus Canada would sell even less of the resources it offers on the global market and the commodity indexes of its resources offered keep decreasing. In other parts of the world, like Europe, oil is also causing problems - the commodity cannot be effectively traded at prices satisfying the expense of the purchase price which inevitably leads European traders to selling resources for less than these had been previously purchased.

Canada would still be aiming to recover its energy production in the next few days. However, the oil prices and the problems with the oil demand for Canadian oil might lead to further decrease in the price of oil globally.

A friend of mine had a terrible shock recently when she went to renew her car-parking permit. These permits are a license for local authorities to print money! We already pay council tax, so why on earth should we have to cough up even more money to our local councils for the right to park outside our doors or even round the corner?

However much I might moan about this system, it is pretty much here to stay, so me and the thousands like me who resent having to pay to park our cars in our own neighbourhoods will just have to put up with it.

Back to the story: my friend Jane said she thought her parking permit cost was not unreasonable at about £50 for the year. It cost more if you paid by the month, quarter, or half-year, but on the whole she thought it was not too much to pay.

Imagine her horror, then, when she went to renew her permit to find that fees had risen, not just twice, but by about three times. This year, she was being charged nearly £150, a rise of nearly £100.

Completely incredulous, Jane demanded to know why her local council were charging so much more. The official told her that instead of a flat fee for all cars, the parking permits were now determined on the amount of emissions and the size of the car engine. She drove a two-door Nissan Micra, a small car, and as someone who has squeezed into it on a regular basis, I can assure you that is indeed SMALL.

Jane pointed this out. “What on earth can be less polluting than my tiny Micra,” she demanded. And she was outraged when the official snootily said, “You could have an electric car, or one of the really low emission cars!”

We all know that low emission cars are better for the environment, but we can’t all afford to switch over at the touch of a council’s permit rise. They should be more sympathetic towards drivers, and not consider us as simply a way to make money.

Europe is currently struggling with the prices of oil and the expenses it incurs from the importers of oil. However, some contracts for oil imports to the EU by major producers of oil such as Russia and the Middle East are soon to be resubmitted and this is the time the EU needs to ensure the financial safety of its citizens by changing the contracts.

Under the old agreements, the countries importers had a vast power to levy the prices of oil and to regulate themselves while performing contractual obligations. The contracts were signed in such an order simply because Western countries did not have the final say in concluding them - the people with oil can simply say they are unhappy with the terms. However, now the opportunity is reversed - after the Middle East is now dependent on the West for political support and peace contribution and after Russia is now developing joint projects with the EU and NATO which gives it a quite strong financial injection, the EU has actually the power to determine most of the contractual terms for sale.

What leaders have discussed in the EU parliament and Council of Ministers has been the idea of imposing regulations upon the export. Import taxes would be reduced, however, prices need to be agreed in advance without an option to amend the initial agreement and to impose unreasonable financial burden on the EU. With these changes, it is unlikely that the EU consumer would sense much of a difference, however, it still depends upon the conditions that would be taking place next year when the new contracts would be discussed. All that is known is that the lack of regulations with the old contracts led to exorbitant prices of fuels for the general consumers - a mistake that the EU cannot admit once more. After all, oil is no Whey protein that builds up so nice tissue on your body - it is the energy source without which economies collapse - so we rather carefully consider the options of buying it for the greater good and not buying it while beheading the consumer of fuels.
